Deputy of Traffic Operations
The Deputy Commissioner for Traffic Operations is part of the executive leadership team at NYCDOT and responsible for the safe and efficient operation of New York City's roadways and for implementing key Agency initiatives, including the Vision Zero goal of seeking to eliminate traffic deaths. The Deputy Commissioner oversees the Division of Traffic Operations, with a staff of 850 and an annual expense budget of $245 million, managing our core operation of 12,000 signalized intersections, 300,000 street lights, 80,000 on-street parking spaces, our state-of-the-art Traffic Management Center, and the camera enforcement program. The Deputy Commissioner is responsible for identifying and developing short, medium, and long-range strategies to ensure a safety-focused culture, cost-effective operations, on time and on budget delivery of capital projects, and a positive customer experience. The Deputy Commissioner directs and manages all activities of the Division: Signals & Street Lighting, Parking Operations, System Engineering, and Camera Enforcement.
